The Big Short (2015)

I was blown away by how educational this movie was. Starring Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale, it talks about the financial crisis dealing with housing mortgages in 2007. It talks about how banks easily gave loans to people who couldn't afford to pay them back and then housed potential interest payments from those mortgages to create "CDOs" and sell that to investors. This led to deception and fraud with people trusting in the stable market of housing mortgages; a market which simply didn't exist. If this sounds confusing, then watch the movie, it might clear things up for you.
It's sad to see how a problem that started from giving risky loans to people, escalated to bankruptcy, millions of jobs lost, and people evicted from their homes.
This topic is controversial and confusing to understand, but the movie has motivated me to dig further and take stock market advice with a grain of salt.
The acting was excellent and confusing concepts (like what is a CDO or a synthetic CDO) was broken down nicely and explained by celebrities to make it more entertaining.

I would highly recommend this film.
